Hide and Seek Vintage

About this Project

The task at hand was to design a brand and website for an inventive, modern vintage shop with a unique artistic focus on shape and color. Drawing inspiration from the client’s desire for a brand identity that embodies artfulness, playfulness, colorfulness, and boldness, this project evolved into and exciting exploration of retro aesthetics.

The heart of the brand identity lies in its visual elements—most notably, the hand-drawn logo. Drawing inspiration from memories of the game ‘peek-a-boo,’ the logo features bold lines depicting hands and eyes, encapsulating the playful essence of the brand. Subtle color outlines in the logo add a touch of uniqueness, resonating with the brand’s focus on color and shape. The color palette, derived from a mood board brimming with retro inspirations, evokes nostalgia through specific film-like hues.

A corkboard header adorned with ’90s memorabilia like concert tickets, pins, and photos sets the tone, transports visitors back in time. Vibrant colors dominate the website, fostering an environment where inspiration thrives. This colorful approach ensures that visitors feel connected to the brand’s artistic and nostalgic essence.

To bring this vision to life, Procreate on the iPad served as the primary tool for creating hand-drawn elements, while Adobe Illustrator facilitated the design of digital assets. These tools enabled a seamless transition from conceptualization to execution, ensuring that the brand and website designs resonate with the target audience.

What sets this project apart is its bold use of colors and the meticulous attention to detail, particularly evident in the corkboard header on the website. This element serves as a poignant reminder of shared memories, connecting the brand’s past with its customers. In essence, this project showcases a willingness to think outside the box, merging artistic flair with user-centric design principles.
